Site Wide SearchHave you ever visited a website and then returned only to discover you are unable to find what you had previously seen? Often, no matter how good your titles and menus and links are, visitors will become frustrated if they cannot quickly find what they are looking for. Their final resort being to someone else’s website. The answer in many scenarios is to include a search facility on the site which searches only your own pages. Here the visitor enters their search word, and just like the major search engines, is presented with a list of pages where that search term is found. They can then link to any of these, hopefully finding what they are looking for more quickly. This facility encourages the visitor to delve deeper into your site and as a result enhances the stickiness of the site (stickiness in website terms is a measure of how long a site is able to capture the attention of a visitor and how many pages they visit).
